ASTM International’s environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee has presented its Gwen Eklund Award of Excellence to Holland & Knight partner Amy L. Edwards, the co-chair of the firm’s National Environmental Team.

– ASTM International’s environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee has presented its Gwen Eklund Award of Excellence to Holland & Knight Partner Amy L. Edwards, the co-chair of the firm’s National Environmental Team.
The award recognizes Ms. Edwards’ continuing leadership and support of standards related to environmental site assessments, risk-based corrective action and environmental risk management. She previously has been recognized by the organization with its Industry Leadership Distinguished Service Award (2018) and Founding Committee Award (2020).
Ms. Edwards has been recognized as a leading environmental lawyer for many years by
and comparable publications. She is a past chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER), the pre-eminent national organization representing lawyers in these fields.
She also served on the board of directors of the Environmental Law Institute for seven years and chaired the District of Columbia Building Industry Association’s Committee on Environment for eight years. In addition, she was an advisor to the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws while it developed the Uniform Environmental Covenants Act. She was inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Environmental Lawyers in 2019.
Ms. Edwards’ practice is focused on counseling developers, lenders and corporations about effective strategies for structuring real estate and corporate transactions to minimize environmental and financial risk. She represents local governments, developers, financial institutions, manufacturers and energy companies on brownfields redevelopment, vapor intrusion, climate change and adaptation, base closure, privatization of military housing, environmental insurance, storm water, energy benchmarking, power purchase agreement, cleanup, cost recovery, environmental compliance and enforcement issues. She is a leading national expert on risk-based corrective action and institutional controls and speaks regularly at national conferences on these issues.
